Board of Education Meeting Recap – September 4th, 2025

Here are the highlights from the most recent meeting of the USD 365 Board of Education:
Strong Start to the School Year
The board received a report on our Back-to-School Professional Development. Staff survey results were overwhelmingly positive across all sessions offered. We are proud to start the year with such high engagement from our educators, focused on learning, collaboration, and student success.
State Assessment Updates
The Kansas State Board of Education has approved new cut scores for state assessments. These updates follow the introduction of new and revised assessments last year, and the new cut scores are designed to better align with current standards and expectations for student learning.
Community Engagement Planning
The board discussed several methods to gather meaningful input from our stakeholders—including families, staff, students, and community members—on district priorities and how we can best meet the needs of our students.
Ideas include:
- Structured listening sessions at each school building
- Surveys distributed during parent-teacher conferences
- Online or mailer surveys to reach more households
- Other creative approaches to include more voices in the conversation
Your input is important—stay tuned for more details on how you can participate!
Board Actions
- Approved updated policies
- Approved the 2025-2026 district budget (see recent post for details)
- Approved new staff hires to support students and programs across the district
We appreciate the continued involvement of our community in supporting our schools and helping us provide the best possible education for every student.
