District Update Regarding Greeley Elementary School

At its recent meeting, the USD 365 Board of Education voted to pass a resolution to close Greeley Elementary School at the conclusion of the current school year.
We recognize that this decision brings strong emotions for many—sadness, concern, frustration, and uncertainty among them. This school has deep roots in our community, and the impact of this decision is personal for students, families, staff, alumni, and community members. We want to acknowledge and respect those feelings.
This decision was not made lightly. It followed months of discussion, community input, and careful consideration of student enrollment trends, educational opportunities, facility needs, and the long-term sustainability of the district. While the decision is difficult, the Board’s focus remains on ensuring the best possible educational experience for all students across the district, both now and in the future.
In the coming weeks, the district will share additional information outlining supports for:
- Students and families, including transition planning and opportunities to connect with receiving schools
- Staff, including employment-related supports and next steps
- The community, including timelines and opportunities for questions and dialogue
We are committed to communicating clearly, listening respectfully, and supporting our stakeholders throughout this transition. Additional updates will be shared as plans are finalized.
Thank you for your continued care for our students and schools.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ryan Most, Superintendent
